Oklahoma PTA to present TEAM Diversity: Together Everybody Achieves More, An Emerging Minority Leadership Conference
Oklahoma City, OK (August 23, 2103)– Oklahoma PTA is pleased to announce that state Representative Mike Shelton (District 97) will give the closing address at its second Emerging Minority Leadership Conference on October 5, 2013. The free conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma City County Health Department, 2600 NE 63rd.
Oklahoma PTA, as the state’s oldest and largest child advocacy association, has planned this event for the entire community (PTA membership is not required). Differences in culture, race, economic situation or family formation are all examples of diversity. Join mothers, fathers, grandparents, guardians and other child advocates for an opportunity to network with your peers, learn new skills and ideas and assist your community.
Workshop topics include bullying prevention and our recent state-level legislation, increasing male involvement at the school and in your PTA, and engaging parents and caretakers of special needs students. Additional topics will include healthy eating habits and childhood poverty.
