As the state’s largest volunteer child advocacy association, Oklahoma PTA has significantly impacted improvements to the education and well-being of Oklahoma’s children since 1922. Currently, with thousands of members and 379 local units across the state, Oklahoma PTA continues to be a powerful voice for all children by advocating for state policies to improve educational equity and opportunity for all children and their families.
Oklahoma PTA applauds the leadership and staff of the State Department of Education on this exciting announcement of the ACT pilot program. Our association has consistently advocated for use of the ACT as proof of subject mastery since 2013, and last month our membership adopted a resolution solidifying this position. We believe this pilot program is the first step in that direction.
Oklahoma PTA also believes that this program is a solid foundation for the reduction of non-federally mandated high-stakes tests, such as the end-of-instruction exams, currently administered in our state. We look forward to seeing this program implemented.
