“We must not believe the many, who say that only free people ought to be educated, but we should rather believe the philosophers who say that only the educated are free.” — Epictetus.
Years ago, a teacher at the high school where my son attended asked me to consider joining in their PTA leadership. I had been a member, but never served in a leadership role. That was my first year as council delegate. I attained so much in that position and met such wonderful leaders on the Council. I asked to be considered as an officer and joined the Tulsa Council shortly after. My roles in PTA have allowed me to be the President of the Wilson Middle School PTSA and Booker T. Washington Council delegate.
I have attended Tulsa Public Schools and Tulsa Community College. It has always been a passion for me to ensure that my children were successful with their education from the very start of pre-k through college (our youngest is at BTW in Tulsa and will graduate in 2017). In doing so, I found out their success also included the children that attended with them.
I am supported by a devoted husband, Lawrence, and our four children, and a growing collection of grandchildren.
