National PTA Programs

National PTA programs are created to organize and support parent involvement in children’s education. The programs are created with leading expert organizations on topics of importance to our members, at members’ requests.
National PTA School of Excellence
We have rejuvenated the National PTA School of Excellence program to help PTAs strengthen the family-school partnership and make measurable progress together in one of three areas:
- Health and safety
- Arts and cultural exploration
At a National PTA School of Excellence, families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement.
Enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year is now closed. Enrollment will open again April 2014!

PTA MORE – Men Organized to Raise Engagement
Organizations in the PTA MORE® (Men Organized to Raise Engagement) alliance are dedicated to raising the level of engagement between children and the important men in the lives.
Go to the National PTA’s website for more information on the PTA MORE program, a list of coalition members, and additional resources.
PTA Three for Me
Three for Me is a PTA program designed to effectively involve parents and families in support of children and their education. This program will help PTAs and parents find different ways to volunteer at home, in school, and in the community—all which support student learning. This way, parents can volunteer when they have time during the day, in the evening or on the weekends.
It is important for children to come to school emotionally and physically healthy. Studies have shown that children’s physical well-being has a significant effect on their learning and long-term success. When children are well-rested, well-nourished, and physically fit they are more ready to learn.
Parents are not alone in making child safety a priority. Many school officials and community members are working with families to create a safe environment where children can flourish and grow, free from violence, drugs, gangs and other threats. With the necessary resources, support, and guidance, all of us can make a difference in our homes, schools and communities.
Safety programs include resources on:
- Internet Safety
- TV and Video Game Safety
- School Violence
- Physical Safety
- Substance Abuse
Take Your Family to School Week
Family involvement in children’s education increases student success in school–and has been at the heart of PTA since its founding in February 1897. With PTA Take Your Family to School Week, February 2014, we honor and continue our legacy of building family-school partnerships for the benefit of all children.

Founders Day is a reminder of the substantial role that PTA has played locally, regionally, and nationally in supporting parent involvement and working on behalf of all children and families. It’s a time to reflect and take pride in our many accomplishments, and to renew our commitment to be a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for parents, and a strong advocate for public education. Contact Oklahoma PTA if you are interested in starting a celebration at your PTA council or local unit.
