PTA REFLECTIONS PROGRAM

Reflections is a National PTA cultural arts recognition program that helps students explore their thoughts, feelings and ideas; they develop artistic literacy; increase confidence and creativity; develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills; and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life.

Students in pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art annually, in response to a theme. Students submit their completed works of art in one, or all, of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.

While the primary focus of Reflections is a celebration of creativity and the arts, student artists receive positive recognition at their schools, and finalists then advance to Oklahoma State PTA, where Award of Excellence winners then advance to the National PTA round for judging.

Oklahoma PTA Reflections Policy

‍Student Participation

The Reflections program is open to all Oklahoma students who meet the requirements below:

Schools supported by a local PTA/PTSA:

  • Students must attend a school with a local PTA/PTSA, or students must attend a school which is defined within the service area of a community-based local PTA/PTSA; and

  • The student must be currently enrolled at a school with a local PTA/PTSA where the student is participating. Each local PTA/PTSA may determine additional eligibility requirements.

  • The PTA/PTSA unit must be in good standing with Oklahoma PTA by October 31st.

  • Eligible students may enter any or all of the six art categories. Multiple entries within a single arts category are NOT permitted. Each entry must be the original work of one student and created for the Reflections program based on the national theme. Each entry must also conform to the guidelines developed by National PTA.
